Lahan, Dec 5 : A State Assembly election candidate in Lahan was injured in a knife attack at Balan Bihul Rural Municipality in Saptari last night.
Sahamud Ali, the candidate from the Federal Socialist Party for Saptari constituency-4 (B) suffered a knife attack from an unidentified gang on the bank of local Bihul River. The incident occurred at around 10:00 pm as he was returning on a motorcycle after an election publicity campaign at Kamaldaha of the same rural municipality, as said by Ali.
Following the attack, Ali has been admitted to a local health clinic. He has sustained injuries to his head and hands in the attack by a gang who were three in numbers came on two motorcycles following him. The gang forced him to stop his bike before the assault, according to Ali. The gang left the scene after hearing his (Ali’s) aide who was pillion riding at the time crying for help.
