Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal are holding ‘decisive’ talks at the Marriott Hotel Kathmandu.

Second tier leaders from both sides are also participating in the talks.

According to sources, Ishwar Pokharel, Subash Nemwang and Vishnu Poudel are participating from Oli’s side. Similarly, Bhim Rawal and Surendra Pandey are present from the Nepal side.

Sources said that both Oli and Nepal entered the Marriott Hotel together with their colleagues. Talks between the top two leaders became possible as the task force formed for party unity came close to an agreement.

According to members of the task force of both the side, today’s meeting between the two leaders is only the result of pressure from both sides. There is no possibility of an immediate agreement. There is serious mistrust between the two leaders. Oli is also unlikely to agree that the policy, leadership, constitution of the Ninth General Convention will be implemented literally. Following that constitution, Chairman Oli automatically retires. Many leaders including Jhala Nath Khanal and Bamdev Gautam cannot remain in office with him. Only Madhav Nepal can remain in office for one more year.
