Dhading, Sept 18 (RSS): The locals of Brusbang in Dhading district do not visit the health post as they say that the nearest health facility is too remote for them and they don’t have money to avail the medical services either.
Brusbang is the highest village in the Mahabharat range that lies in the bordering place of Dhading and Chitwan district.

Jagannath Nepal, Coordinator of the District Coordination Committee, Dhading recently visited this place to take stock of the situation. Majority of the locals, mostly women, grieved that they could not visit the nearest health post as they have to tread the treacherous mountainous terrain to reach the nearest one.
Another reason is acute poverty among the indigenous communities in the locality with the dominance of Chepang. Take for instance Take for instance Sukri Maya Chepang of Rorang rural municipality ward no 2 in the district.

Five-months- pregnant Sukrimaya came to meet Coordinator Nepal with her one and a half year old baby girl. Impoverished Surkri Maya lamented to Nepal that she could not afford the medicine to her children and did not take the trouble of going to the health post. Surya Maya Chepang, a local leader, shared that she gave birth to her three children at her home rather than visiting the birthing centre. She stated that women, especially expecting mothers, do not visit the health facilities as they find it difficult to cover a long distance on foot in the mountain slope.
Locals like Surya Maya see the need of organizing free and mobile health camps to ensure consistent healthcare access to local communities,” Surya Maya concluded.
