Kathmandu June 14:
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentarian Affairs Dr Shivamaya Tumbahanpfe in today’s meeting of the National Assembly presented a proposal seeking deliberation on the Constitution of Nepal (Second Amendment) Bill-2077 along with the message from the House of Representatives. The members of NA are currently deliberating on the proposal in the NA’s ongoing meeting. Taking part in the meeting, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Dr Beduram Bhusal, favoured the proposal and asserted that the Bill should be endorsed and the whole country should be united for bringing back the India-controlled territories of Nepal- Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulek. NCP Devendra Dahal opined that the unity shown in the House of Representatives’ meeting on Saturday had shown how we all were united to safeguard our country’s sovereignty. Thagendra Prakash Puri of the same party welcomed the move of the government to bring back the country’s encroached territories. Now, the land should be regained through political dialogue. Dil Kumari Rawal said that India had been encroaching Nepal’s territories time again time. Thus, she argued that those encroached territories should be reclaimed in the strength of all Nepalis’ unity. Komal Oli opined that bringing back the encroached land had emerged as a national resolution among all the Nepalis. Jag Prasad Sharma and Bhairav Sundar Shrestha were confident that Nepal would regain its territories eventually. Ram Narayan Bidari was of the view that the territories safeguarded by Bhakti Thapa and Amar Singh Thapa must be brought back to the ownership of Nepal. Similarly, Nepali Congress (NC) Anita Devkota endorsed the proposal and urged for unity for this cause. Jitendra Narayan Dev welcomed the Bill introduced by the government after unveiling the new political map including Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulek and called for unity among one and all to `retrieve these territories to Nepal from India’s control. Likewise, Rastriya Janata Party’s Mrigendra Kumar Yadav viewed that issuing a new political and administrative map of the country was an important achievement and we should be able to use the land too soon.
