Accuses RSP of Shifting Focus to Spread Confusion in New Areas After Decline in Kathmandu
Kathmandu Feb 10: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), has asserted that ideologically, the CPN is the newest and most progressive political force in the country.
Addressing a party training program held at the party headquarters in Paris Danda on Sunday, Prachanda declared that the CPN is the true carrier of federal democratic republic, the champion of all oppressed classes, ethnicities, regions, and communities, and the party that has established the rights and identity of every section of society.
“There is no other or newer ideology than this,” he said. “What is being projected on social media as ‘new’ is not ideology, not principle, not political agenda. They are trying to create a narrative that ‘new’ simply means opposing the old.”
Instructions to Cadres on Election Mobilization
Prachanda gave clear directives to party cadres regarding the upcoming election:
- Ensure voters are safely taken to polling stations.
- Help them cast their votes.
- Remain vigilant and guard the ballot boxes until the results are announced.
He emphasized that the party has the capacity to influence all 77 districts and every constituency across the country.
“We are not only concentrating in Kathmandu Valley,” he said. “We are also running campaigns in major cities — Pokhara, Biratnagar, Bharatpur, Dang, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi — and mobilizing citizens from various sectors who live and work in these places.”
Claim of Becoming the Largest Party
Prachanda confidently predicted that the Communist Party of Nepal is on track to become the number one party in the upcoming election.
“This is not just emotional talk,” he stressed. “When we travel across the country and see the mood among the people, when we listen to what our opponents are saying, and when we look at the survey reports conducted by various national and international organizations — all of it shows we are becoming the first party.”
He urged party workers to work at “war level” in the remaining 23–24 days before the election.
Criticism of Rastriya Swatantra Party
Prachanda took a sharp dig at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), accusing it of relying heavily on social media hype rather than real ground strength.
“We call them social media party, stunt party,” he remarked. “Wherever they had won earlier, they are now on the decline. Even in the Kathmandu Valley, their presence has weakened significantly.”
He alleged that the RSP is now shifting its focus to new areas to spread confusion among voters.
“It is easier to create confusion in new places,” Prachanda said. “That’s what they are trying to do now.”
The former Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when political parties have intensified their election campaigns, with opinion polls and ground-level activities becoming key indicators of possible electoral outcomes. Prachanda’s claim of survey-backed rise for the CPN is likely to generate significant debate in the coming days.
